Stroke-Fill-Transarency in Illustrator CS - Adobe Illustrator Windows

In version 10 the program remembered the transparency of the previous object you drew and would apply it to the next object. CS does not seem to do this. Is there a setting I am missing?...

    In version 10 the program remembered the transparency of the previous object you drew and would apply it to the next object. CS does not seem to do this. Is there a setting I am missing?

    Appearance palette - Click on the arrow and uncheck "New Art has Basic
    Appearance"
