Student Edition MX 2004
I believe I qualify for the student edition of Macromedia products, as I am a high school student. My question is, are there any limitations placed on the student editions aside from not using your site for a business? And would setting up a site donation page be acceptable?
Also, as I asked in my last post (in another topic), is MX 2004 the BEST product from Macromedia to create something very similar to the Web site mentioned in my previous topic?
If so, is paying the extra money for MX 2004 Professional worth it? Why or why not?

Read the Academic detail information provided. You could find general
academic software use detail on software sales sites. www.journeyed.com or
www.academicsuperstore.com are examples. But they won't provide the full
info for each company's policies.
This is what I found on journeyed.com:
Macromedia
Requires current academic verification. Educational products for personal
use only. All Commercial use prohibited. All Free Academic Upgrade Versions
are supplied direct from Macromedia and must be requested by the customer
from Macromedia within their manufacturer guidelines.
Accepting donations for a .org site; I suspect the donations would require
legal documentation indicating use of collected funds and you'd need to
provide a receipt to those offering a donation (So they can receive a tax
break). I have never done anything like this so I won't discuss anything
more about the legal aspects of running a .org site with academic software.
MX 2004 is a fine tool for online animation, training and much more. Used
with other tools, Dreamweaver for example, you can achieve a lot more. If
you decide to get Flash, I'd go for the latest studio package which includes
Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand and Coldfusion.
Flash 2004 Pro is worth the upgrade for better video support and database
integration. There are some other differences between the two versions so
you may want to review them at www.macromedia.com
