Studio Management Software
I wasn't sure where to put this, so please excuse me if this is the wrong place. I just opened a marketing and design company and I'm looking for some studio management software. So far here are the two best programs I've found:
Traffic: <http://www.sohnar.com/>
Studiometry: <http://www.oranged.net/>
Right now, my company is very small (only 2 people). Although having a studio management system may seem like overkill for such a small company, I feel it's extremely important—primarily because we need to be as efficient as possible.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these programs or can you reccommend something else?
Thanks,
Kelly

Re: Studio Management Software
Use Quickbooks Pro or MYOB Pro. There are tons of people who use excel.

Are there any books I can buy on creating a design studio workflow? (i.e best practices for storing files, project naming conventions, etc.)

Re: Studio Management Software
Try the Graphic Guild Guidebook <http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0932102123/102-1430532-1811337?v=glance&n=283155>for some good tips on pricing and contracts. Doesn't tell you workflow per se.
Quickbook allows you to quote a job and then generate a job ticket from the quote.
Also, Google is your friend: How to Run a Design Studio <http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+run+a+design+studio&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official>
