I can't seem to load your design example, but here's a thought: In design view, when you make your tables, are you using "Standard View" or "Layout View"? In "Standard View" tables are readily made, but very difficult to manipulate the way you want. In "Layout View" you can put tables exactly where you want them. Then it's very easy to insert text. Not sure if this answers your question but though I'd give it a shot. I'm a newbie too but have learned a thing or two about tables in the last few months.

    1) Get out of Layout mode. *Never* use it. Use Standard and Code views:

    2) Your page is ten times as big (in Kb) as the recommended 40-50Kb.
It's take well over a minute to download on a 56Kb modem.

And, get a book on HTML. It never hurts to have a little familiarity with
how HTML works on the page before you start.
