Do you have something on the layer for it to apply to?

Styles can be applied to empty layers - but, well, they won't show anything.

I fumbled around and managed to get an image by filling the layer and then selecting the style. Thanks much

    Default Styles Not showing

I am using Contribute CS3 and having trouble with setting up a Contribute site.
I designed the site with Dreamweaver Templates, have put a link to the CSS
file right under the <head> tag and it is not in any kind of include file, just
a direct link to the CSS file.

Yet, when I set up this site in Contribute, I edit the role settings and even
when I have allowed all unrestricted editing...allowed to apply font, bold,
colors, everything....NOTHING shows up in the menus when editing the page in
Contribute, and it says that its disabled.

I have tried to change every setting possible and nothing works! I've combed
through the forums and tried solutions that others posted, but nothing is
    working....anyone have any ideas?
