Sudden self-destruction of SuSE 8.2 installation? - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

Hi, I didn't see it coming, out of the blue my SuSE 8.2 installation appears to be completely ruined. What I did when it happened is to mount a filesystem with --bind, and move a large directory to the newly mounted directory. Then suddenly 'mv' gave a 'not enough disk space' or something like that. 'df' gave a strange error message of 'unknown parameter Y' (where Y was actually a strange Y, like from a different cht). I tried to reboot, and now many services fail during boot, and I can't log in, the error message 'failed to mount /proc' ...

Default Sudden self-destruction of SuSE 8.2 installation?

    Hi,

I didn't see it coming, out of the blue my SuSE 8.2 installation appears
to be completely ruined. What I did when it happened is to mount a
filesystem with --bind, and move a large directory to the newly mounted
    directory.

Then suddenly 'mv' gave a 'not enough disk space' or something like that.

'df' gave a strange error message of 'unknown parameter Y' (where Y was
actually a strange Y, like from a different cht).

I tried to reboot, and now many services fail during boot, and I can't
log in, the error message 'failed to mount /proc' repeats itself over
    and over.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

I tried booting with the rescue system, and it appears that there is
still plenty of disk space on both my disks. My first thought was that
my mount was flawed and I therefore used up all the space on the system
disk by moving that directory, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I removed an entry from fstab by hand, which pointed to an old mount
point of the second disc, but that didn't make a difference either.

Many thanks in advance for any ideas!

I've decided now to just reinstall the server, already did. So help is
not needed anymore, although I would still be interested in what might
    have caused the problem.
