MANY people can afford Leica. A Leica system with 4 lenses will
TROUNCE the Contax with 4 lenses, on ALL levels of quality and speed.

Or you could simply get a real Zeiss-Ikon Contax II or IIa. The Contax
II is a very nice camera with an excellent viewfinder and reasonably
quiet shutter, though not on the slower speeds. The Contax IIa is a
bit smaller but doesn't have as good a viewfinder -- it has a green
tint. The IIa shutter tends to be more reliable. You can pick up a II
or IIa with the 50mm f/1.5 Sonnar for less than $400. Either is
excellent. The III and IIIa had non-coupled selenium light meters. I
    carry a modern-day Sekonic digital.

Here's my page on the Contax IIa. There are other pages out there that
    also have very good information.
