Suggestions for new monitor
I have a Nokia 446pro which is beautiful but want to upgrade to at least a 21" or more. Are the flat panels as good as they should be yet or do I wait? I've budgeted for a substantial purchase so give your best recommendation. Also, I'm on Windows 2000 Professional and have no problems. I have heard many complaints about XP and am hesitant to switch over. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Suggestions for new monitor
marlene,
I've been running XP Pro for quite a while now with no OS-related problems at all, though I can also say that there are no significant advantages over Win2K.
As for monitors, if color management/display calibration is an important part of your work, I'd recommend sticking with a CRT. I got a LaCie electron22blueIV about 5 months ago, and it's the best display I've ever used.

Marlene,
I have no problems with AI10 and GL6 on XP Home. From the threads about crashes it seems that the Windows version is not significant.

Re: Suggestions for new monitor
Thanks to both of you. Since color is critical to my work, I appreciate the recommendation. Also, any ideas about the best laptop? I know the display is not what I need, but for travel it will have to do.

Re: Suggestions for new monitor
Marlene,
The best suggestion for a laptop is about the same as for a desk top. As always, get the best you can afford. The only thing different I would say is to get the biggest monitor available. Minimums.. 512 ram, 1.8Ghz, Maybe built in Video bay ATI or Nvidia 32 to 64 meg. Also, get a usb mouse for it. They make tiny portable ones, but any old mouse should work better than trying to adjust to a touche pad or the little joy stick mice, and is more ergonomic for you.
