Suitcase auto-activation plugin crashes Ill.CS
Using Illustrator CS and Suitcase X1 (11.0.2 - the latest). Everything worked fine until today when suddenly Illustrator crashed when opening two AI files. I was worried I'll never be able to open them again after several hours spent working. I cleaned cache, repaired permissions, erased AdobeFnt files, trashed Illustrator preferences - still crashing.
The next suspect: Suitcase. I manually activated the fonts I used in the files - still crashing (the fonts are NOT corrupted). Then I trashed the auto-activation plugin: BINGO! no more crashes.
So for those of you who experience CS crashes and have Suitcase installed this may be a solution.

Tried it and didn't work for me. Illustrator CS still remains the one application that crashes more on my Mac than any program in the history of my ownership of a Macintosh.

Vic - have you tried completely deactivating or removing Suitcase?

Re: Suitcase auto-activation plugin crashes Ill.CS
Suitcase works fine with AI CS I bet Vic has some other conflict and hasn't done a search on the subject to see the possibilities perhaps he has the problem of mismatched RAM and Vic the hardware testing utility that Apple gives won't show the mismatch RAM problem.
Or perhaps he has Spell Catcher and hasn't updated to the latest release.
Fonts and he hasn't done any trouble shooting.

Vic, I take it that you do not own a copy of Microsoft Office then.

Re: Suitcase auto-activation plugin crashes Ill.CS
LOR did you also trash the preferences and repair the permissions and go thorough all the steps to remove files that have been corrupted that might still cause the problem even though you took the step to correct the problem, or did you just…well you.
