SUITCASE CONFLICT?
Suitcase conflict suspected:
Text insertion point will not appear in a new file until I make Suitcase (vX1) active. Then, after toggling back to the illustrator file, I can immediately see the insertion point. Does this indicate a greater problem, and/or Is there a fix for this?

Re: SUITCASE CONFLICT?
I've had a similar problem, whether with a new file or an existing one. There is no insetion point, and selecting previously placed type does not give the correct attributes in the character palette -- always indicates 12 point Myriad.

Re: SUITCASE CONFLICT?
I have the myriad thing going on too? Also the incorrect attributes, as well the text I choose does not become highlighted?

Gary, I'm curious as to why you work with Suitcase off. In many cases, Suitcase users have only a very few fonts active at the system level, and use Suitcase to enable all the other good stuff.

Re: SUITCASE CONFLICT?
Suitcase is on, loading at login. Making it active does the trick. Perhaps making any other running application active would also solve this display bug, I'll check.

Re: SUITCASE CONFLICT?
Aha. Opening another application (and here may I suggest Freehand?) does cause the myriad/cursor display problem to go away.

Re: SUITCASE CONFLICT?
Others on this forum have recommended removing the Suitcase Auto-Activation plug in from the Plug-ins > Extensions folder.
I recommend this anyway. It's caused the most Illustrator crashes of aynthing I've seen.
The Adobe Online extension gets the prize for being the second most likely cause of crashes in Illustrator. :)
