Symbols and text

Hi,

Am I correct in assuming that symbols cannot contain text in AI 10? I get an error every time I try to create one with text in it.

Text should be no problem. What does the error message exactly say? Have you got AI 10.0.3?

sorry, no idea. There should be absolutely no problems defining text as symbols. What happens when you trash the AIPrefs and restart AI?

What are you doing to the text? Straight text in or on an object will Symbol just fine. I'm using CS, but believe the same is true in Illustrator 10.0.3 as well.
