System Requirements
Hi,
I've been using InDesign 2 on my Windows 98 SE, AMD based system for a while and would like to upgrade to the "CS" version. But the requirements stated on Adobe's website states: Windows XP and an Intel II, III or Pentium 4.
My question: Is this for real?

Re: System Requirements
Yes.
The AMD is okay, but you won't even get it to install on Win98.
What speed processor is the AMD? How much RAM do you have?

Re: System Requirements
No - this is really not for real. You have found Adobe lying yet again. Adobe wants its customers to ignore the minimum system requirements so that they can purchase InDesign CS and not be able to install it.
Why don't you try to install the InDesign CS demo and see for yourself? No one should buy a software without first testing the demo, if one is available. If you try on a $20 shirt in a department store before buying it, why would you not try out a demo for the $169 software upgrade? If your internet connection is not zippy enough to download the demo, you can find the software demo on the cover discs of every other design magazine at your newsstand or bookstore.

Re: System Requirements
Bob,
Processor speed will be the Athlon 64 3200, with about 1gb of ram. Plus just to be sure WinXP pro. This will be a new system as against the old last week model running Win98.
I just wanted to be sure that InDesign CS would work on an AMD processor (which InDesign 2 does), because I will be upgrading shortly - again!
Thanx

You should have no problem at all with that system.

System Requirements
My organization is looking at the possiblilty of buying a web server for our
department and running FMS on it to serve our growing archive of video content.
I'm curious about the system requirements, they seem fairly vague to me,
especially regarding processors. Adobe says "Intel? Pentium? 4 3.2GHz
processor (dual Intel Xeon? processors recommended)." This might be a dumb
question, but if I configure a machine with dual Xeons, should they both be 3.2
GHz? Or does the 3.2 only refer to the Pentium 4's in that spec? I'm having a
bit of a rough time finding the right configuration on the Dell site, as 3.2
seems to be the top speed for Xeons, and many of their servers are equipped
with AMD processors anyway. I'm just curious what others are running...
Thanks,

Hi Dave,
I think you will be happy with any high end processor.
