system stored procedure - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

I know I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I have to ask anyway ... I am trying to use a system stored procedure (xp_sendmail) - I am trying to see if I have things configured properly for SQL Mail. When I go to execture the sp: exec xp_sendmail recipients = 'a-carbotamu.edu', subject = 'Testing SQL Mail' I get an error: Server: Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 1 Could not find stored procedure 'xp_sendmail'. I know I'm just forgetting something, but I'm not sure what it is. Anyone want to help out this newbie? TIA, Adria...

    Default system stored procedure

    I know I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I have to ask
    anyway ...

    I am trying to use a system stored procedure
    (xp_sendmail) - I am trying to see if I have things
    configured properly for SQL Mail.

    When I go to execture the sp:

    exec xp_sendmail recipients = 'a-carbotamu.edu',
    subject = 'Testing SQL Mail'

    I get an error:

    Server: Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 1
    Could not find stored procedure 'xp_sendmail'.

    I know I'm just forgetting something, but I'm not sure
    what it is.

    Anyone want to help out this newbie?

    TIA,
