Tab palette blank

I selected some text with tabs and brought up the tab palette to adjust the locations but the palette is blank. What is going on? I never had this problem with version 2. Can anybody help?

this has been seen before. the only known solution is to delete your preferences file (which means you lose all PDF export and PRINT presets also...).

right after you click the icon to start indesign, hold down the ctl+alt+shift buttons and it will prompt to delete prefs.

PDF Export and Print presets can be saved to file and then reloaded. Use the commands on the File menu.

I was having the same problem too with the blank Tab palette. I've seen several cases in which the best advice is "trash your preferences". I never had to delete anything before and now that I deleted my preferences, every time I try to start ID it just crashes.
What am I supposed to do now?

I had to re-install ID to get it to work again.

Strange, this should not have happened but it did.
