Hi, I am imports a number of Word doents that contain tables. Is there anyway to set up my preferences for tables, so that I dont have to reformat each table individually? Thanks Alex...

    Default Table Preferences

    Hi,
I am imports a number of Word doents that contain tables. Is there
anyway to set up my preferences for tables, so that I dont have to reformat
    each table individually?

    Thanks

They're going to come in almost exactly the way you have them formatted
    in Word.

Um, well they may supposedly do so, but they are coming in all closed up,
with different rule thicknesses. Iam obviously doing something wrong !

Check the setup in Word and please...turn off the autoquote in your
    newsreader.

Thanks for your post Bob, autoquote turned off !

If I open up the doent in Word, the tables are great - correct
    formatting, row height, fonts etc.
When i place the doent in CS2 I have mapped fonts etc across and these
come in OK. However the rows are always closed up, the table width is
smaller and the cellalignment is always wrong.

    Thanks for your help

That's odd. About the only problem I've ever encountered is with row
heights. ID will always default to an inset of 4pts top and bottom which
    can cause overset text.

Setting them to zero can be done with a script.

As for the rest...I'm at a loss. Do you have conflicting paragraph
    styles or character styles anywhere?

    Hi Bob

Yes think there is something peculiar with my source doents as I have
just created a new doent with table in it and its come in almost
    perfectly.

Never mind, thanks for your help and time, will just do it manually :)
