    Default Tabs Pallet is Blank

I am using IDCS v3.01 in XP and when I highlight text and open the tabs pallet to make adjustments the pallet shows no ruler, selectable icons, etc. It is just flat and gray, no features. I tried reinstalling IDCS and updates, worked for awhile then lost the options in the tab pallet again. Anyone have an idea? I don't fancy reinstalling InDesign every week. I am using a Dell XPS with 2 GB RAM. Thanks

    Thanks Bob,
I restored the default preferences, restarted InDesign 3.01 and the Tabs Palette is working fine.

    Aged no-name machine, 520RAM. Win2000, CS

I just ran the August updater, and my tab bar, too, is gray only. I tried Bob Levine's suggestion (I now have no SavedData file in the CS folder), but it didn't take.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, since I have deadline work requiring extensive text reformats.

I too am having problems with the Tabs Palette which is grayed out.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600, with 1 GB RAM, and Win XP Pro, and InDesign CS v.3.0.1.

I tried re-setting the preference files using Shift+Ctrl+Alt without any success. I am new to InDesign, but even Quark is looking good to me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Success at last. I re-created the preferences file by following the instructions in Knowledgebase Document 326414, section 3. The tabs palette is back.

Thanks to all who participate in the forum.
