Tagged Styles into InDesign CS2 - Adobe Indesign Windows

How do I import <Tagged> paragraph styles into InD CS2? Win2000 Have been using Page Maker 7 for ages to produce catalogues etc. The text is imported into PM7 via word(.DOC) with the paragraph styles in <> e.g. . On importing PM7 coverts on the page according to the styles setup. How on earth do you get InD CS2 to do it. Two steps.

1/ Set up some text incorporating every style you use and save its as
    InDesign tagged text.

2/ Save the header part of the text file as a universal header to be pasted
in front of any text doent. Carve up the rest of the test doent to
give you a tag syntax .

So you're on the right track. What is confusing you?

A good way to learn Tagged Text is to export to Tagged Text format from
Indesign, and then look at the resulting .txt file. IOW, if you want to see
how italics should be tagged, type a few words in an empty file, swipe one
of them and make it italic, select all, and export to Tagged Text. Now open
the Tagged Text file in Notepad and look at it. Indesign puts all of the
style definitions near the top of the file, so scroll down until you find
    the words you typed.

There's also a recent thread in this forum, "Formatting text from coded text
    file", that might help you.
