Tape drive on RAID Controller card
I have configured RAID 5 on channel B of my Intel RAID
Controller card (SRCU32). I would like to ask, can I
connect Sony Internal Tape drive to other channel of the
RAID or not. Is it recomended to connect tape drive on
RAID controller or not. The External scsi port of RAID
controller can be use to connect devices on it not.
Actually, I see there are two internal port and two
external ports, can I use all at a time. Thanks.

Re: Tape drive on RAID Controller card
Most IDE tape drives require a connection to the onboard IDE controllers to
work properly. Some of the new Seagate (Certance) drives will ONLY work on
the secondary IDE controller.

Re: Tape drive on RAID Controller card
It sounds like a duel card. Figure out which is the channel not in use for
the disks and plug into that one, internally or externally. Your config more
than likely has one internal port in use which shares a channel with one of
the external port. Same thing goes for the second channel. Your disks are
probably daisy chaned onto one internal port. The other internal port is
likely not in use and would be fine for the tape drive.
If you need more info, post the make and model of the card, as well as what
devices are currently hooked up to the card, back in here.
