Temp table help... - Informix

We have a Dev server and Prod server. I am fetching big chunk of data into a large temp table (say temp1). To process them I am fetching them into another temp table (say temp2). Default Temp table help...

We have a Dev server and Prod server. I am fetching big chunk of data
into a large temp table (say temp1). To process them I am fetching
them into another temp table (say temp2). The execution of code in Dev
server finishes in 2 hours. But the same execution takes invariably a
long time more than 15 hrs in prod server.

    Note:

My App and D/B resides in one server at dev but in prod is resides in
    two different servers.

If I run with less number of data in prod server it takes very few
minutes to complete. If I do with large amount it slows down. What
could be the problem? Can anyone help me please?

My temp tables are declared as

"with no log extent size 1000K next size 500k lock mode page".

Your reply is very valuable to me.

    Thank you

What is ur select statement? all tables reside on the DB from where u
    select?

    Does it have order/group by's?

do both db's have same indexes etc?

can u set explain on on both machines and compare the sqexplain.out to
see if there is any difference?
