    Default Template Editable Regions

    I have a problem with a template in dreamweaver 8 which when I apply it to a
    page and insert into that editable region the flash .swf file it does not show
    up.

    Does anyone know why this is?

    Thank you

    Yes, most likely. But show me the page after you have applied the Flash,
    please.

    Dont' know why. I had the same problem with a template. I had to create a new
    page that was not attached to the template in order to get mine to work.
    Someone told me they were not a fan of templates for this reason, but no one
    told me how to fix it or why it is a problem!

    I am also please to note that you are familiar with Project Sevens
    Components for Dreamweaver as this is what I am working with on the navigation
    as well. You will see it in my preceeding message I sent with the code.

    Thank you in advanced for all your assistance

    Templates require some understanding. Once you acquire that, things like
    this are not a problem....

    Default Re: Template Editable Regions

    When your page loads, it throws a javascript error. The error refers to
    line 180. This line is shown below -

    <script type="text/javascript">
    ===> Line 180 ---- >
    AC_FL_RunContent(
    'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0','width','550','heigh t','500','title','Curlys
    images','src','flash/slideshow','quality','high','pluginspage','http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer','movie','flash/slideshow'
    ); //end AC code
    </script><noscript><object classid=

    That's the line that is calling AC_FL_RunContent, but the js error indicates
    that it is not finding that function on the page. Line 15, 16 and 17 are as
    follows -

    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <script src="scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
    <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->

    That script is what *would* add the AC_FL_RunContent function to the page,
    if you had uploaded it. However, you did not.

    The page's code shows clearly that this is not a template problem at all -
    the code has been properly added to your page. The problem is the result of
    your failure to upload the NEW "scripts" folder, that DW8.0.2 placed in your
    local root folder when you added the Flash to the page. Unfortunately, DW
    does not notify you that it has done this, and unless you look at your code,
    you will miss it.

    Please upload that folder and see what happens.

    Thank my sincere appologies for the rudness. I am a bit frustrated and I
    really need a solution to why this is happening. I am spending a great deal of
    money and time using these macromedia approved components and they are not
    working in harmony out of the box. Thanks for your help

    Are you on the right track now? DW is doing exactly what it should be. The
    problem is that you didn't notice the added folder in your site, and realize
    that you needed to upload it too.

    Negative Murray, the issue with formatting was the folder and that I did not
    realize the css and the js file were in a separate folder. The issue with the
    flash not showing up is still happening. Template driven pages with an
    editable region are still causing me grief for some reason.

    Default Re: Template Editable Regions

    Why are you saving the image on that page as a GIF? It looks horrible. Use
    a JPG with the proper color for the background.

    The error on the gallery page is "Object expected on line 180". Line 180
    follows -

    <script type="text/javascript"> <=== line 179
    line 180 ===>AC_FL_RunContent(
    'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0','width','550','heigh t','500','title','Curlys
    images','src','flash/slideshow','quality','high','pluginspage','http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer','movie','flash/slideshow'
    ); //end AC code

    The object expected is the definition of the AC_FL_RunContent function. In
    the head of the page you have -

    <script src="scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>

    which is where the AC_FL_RunContent function is defined. When I browse to
    that location, I get this -

    404 not found
    The requested resource could not be found.

    Thus - YOU HAVE NOT UPLOADED THE SCRIPTS FOLDER. This is what we've been
    telling you all along.

    [/Q]

    They same advice was given to me and I was confused because Dreamweaver set up
    the scripts folder and it was uploaded to the remote site, but the scripts
    folder was not in my root folder. Moving it made all the difference. I have
    not tried it with a template since moving the scripts folder, but I did get it
    to work. Alas, my husband decided he didn't want the video released in it's
    entirety, so now I have to edit it! Regardless...I was able to make it work!

    I did get it to work, the scripts folder was missing from my remote server. All is fine now, thanks for all of your help.
