Default Templates & Meta Tags... Where did they go?

So I built some pages using a template, and inserted all the meta tags in each
one for keywords and description, along with a title. But after revising the
template a couple times, I notice that they have all gone away. That sucks!
What did I do wrong, how can I fix this and so on?

    Thanks!

It's hard to know what you did wrong. How many templates do you have?

Did you insert the keyword and description meta tags in the templates or in
    the child pages?
