    Default templates won't update!

they worked before, now they're not. i did a search and found this in these forums:

Here are the things that stop templates from updating -

    1. Renaming the templates folder
    2. Moving the templates folder out of the Root level of the site
    3. Corrupting the Site Cache

In addition, by saving other kinds of files besides templates within the
templates folder, you can compromise the ability of templates to manage
    links to those files.

To fix these problems you can a) rename the folder back to templates, b)
move the folder back to the root, c) recreate the site cache, and d) get all
files other than templates out of the templates folder, respectively.

Finally, there are posts here from time to time from people who have
forgotten that it is only the changes to non-editable regions that propagate
to child pages. They have changed content in an editable region and are
hoping it will propagate, but it will not.

none of these fit my situation, i don't think. i haven't moved anything or renamed the folder...but i don't know what it means to recreate the site cache...can someone help me?

From the site panel click on Site > Recreate Site Cache.
