Default Text appears jagged unless actually typing

I know there is a fix for the text appearing jagged, I saw this issue a couple of months ago in this forum but can't find it or the answer. I have the display as high quality and it only affects the the placed images.

Imported artwork is downsamples to your monitor's resolution for previewing. Right-click on an image and select Dislay Performance->High Quality Display.

I was having a simmilar problem. When I right clicked on text and select show hidden characters, I could not see the hidden characters. The problem was that I was in preview mode. Perhaps if you change to Normal mode it may solve your problem also.
