Text box into 2, 3 or more columns?

Is there a way to set a text box into 2, 3 or more columns, so that the
entire contents can be seen without the need to scroll?

The only method I used once is somekind of a workaround
Define a textfield and set it to be a repeating field (define fields
options)
Put the field on a layout,
In layoutmodus : choose FIELD FORMAT for this field and select 3
repetitions, horizontally.
Only disadvantage, user that types the text must use the TAB-key when the
first column is full.
