Text-finding strangeness?

    Default Text-finding strangeness?

Has anyone else noticed inconsistencies in ID CS's Find feature?

I occasionally search a document for text I know is there, and ID tells me it's not. I can manually track down the page containing the searched-for text, and look right at it, and ID still can't find it.

When this happens, I have no special search conditions set:

    Search: Document
    Whole Word [unselected]
Case Sensitive [unselected] [that should be hyphenated in the dialog box, btw---it's a compound adjective]
    Format conditions: [none]

Just wondering if this is a bug, or if I could be doing something wrong.

My first guess would be that your search string contains something like "'" but your ID text is looking for a typographic apostrophe "^[" or quotation marks, etc.

Or, you've specified that the search be confines to the selected story, not the entire document.

Scott's first guess is a better first guess than mine, because I've often done that myself . . .

I'm aware of the story/document distinction. And no, I'm not searching for punctuation, just text.

This has happened several times now. Well, just thought I'd mention it.
