text goes crazy in .pdf document!
When inserting pages from one pdf document to another, i occasionally and unpredictably have a problem. The text on the inserted pages goes crazy, by this i mean it ends up being moved all over the page and not left where it was in the pdf document it came from. I thought it might be due to using different versions of distiller to create the original documents, but now i'm not so sure as it only happens occasionally. The original files were created in Quark Express, i don't think its a quark related problem though as it only occurs when moving pages between pdf documents. Any help would be much appreciated!
I use the insert pages entry in the document pull down menu. I'm using Acrobat 4.0 on windows xp home, but these files were created for me by someone else. They use Acrobat 4.0 on a windows 98 system. Now as for the versions of distiller being used, i'm not 100% certain as our company has (and in some cases still is) used distiller 4, 5 and 6 in recent history. Although we're trying to stick to just 4 from now on to try and avert any more problems.
The documents do use the same fonts. In the document info - fonts selection in acrobat it says the fonts are embedded subset.

Re: text goes crazy in .pdf document!
Most likely this is an issue with the way the PDF files are created...something to do with the fonts themselves or the way they are embedded. Though you might try the free Reader 6.0.1 download and see if the same problem occurs (you can't insert pages there, but you can open a problem document to see if the viewing problem still occurs). Updating your video driver is a long shot, but may work if the problem doesn't happen on all machines.
