Text on top of a graphic
InDesign CS - newbie - When I put text on top of a graphic it does not show. Only the text frame shows and I can color this but no text shows. I do this in Pagemaker with no problems. What am I doing wrong.

Turn off the text wrap on the picture or set the text frame to ignore
text wrap.

Re: Text on top of a graphic
PageMaker uses the philosophy that if a text frame (or block) is wholly contained within a text wrap then that wrap has no effect on the frame. This seems natural to PM users but in truth is rather odd and not something that is all that reliable -- a small change of one element can have a dramatic, unintended impact on another.
InDesign has an explicit control for managing whether or not text frames are affected by wraps. There's also a preference that can be set to determine whether or not wraps affect text frames that are in front of (above) images.

For you lurkers out there, this preference was added in ID CS.
