Text wrap around a circle

Default Text wrap around a circle

In the new Macintosh CS version of Illustrator, I am unable to get the text to overlap completely around a circle. In the past, at that point, I could enlarge the circle, adjust the point size of the text or change the letterspacing to get the text wrapping result I was looking for.

Now, in Illustrator CS when I work with more text than will fit in around a circle, I'm getting a plus sign and the text doesn't overlap.

What can I change in the Illustrator CS version to get it to work the old way?

    TIA

The plus sign is a text overflow if you click on it with the direct select tool it will load the the overflow into the cursor you can the click that of of the artboard some where where it will make a new linked text frame with the overflow text in it. perhaps that will give you what you want.

What I'm looking for is a way NOT to get the plus sign but for the text to simply overlap on itself like it used to. Then, I can manually adjust where the text needs to go. Now, it seems to be an automatic process in giving me the option of creating a linked frame which I'm not interested in.

I don't understand the problem it looks like it works the same way except that there is an overflow that can be be unloaded somewhere els or you can resize the text frame and there is the rest of the text just like it worked before?

I have to admit though I don't understand what you want.

In previous versions of Illustrator (non CS), when I would have too much text for a complete circle, the excess text, the text that extended past the full circle, would overlap the beginning text of the circle.

Now in Illustrator CS, instead of the text automatically overlapping itself, it stops close to a full circle and provides a selection box to upload the excess text somewhere else. I don't want to upload the overlapped text anywhere else. I want to be able to accurately adjust the text that I have so that I can space it completely around the circle.

I have temporarily placed a pdf example file on my website here: <http://hyperflite.com/circletextexample.pdf>. The text on the small circle is what I would like to get in CS and then be able to play with the spacing and size to get the final larger circle.

    TIA

Oh you wrote text wrap instead of text on a circle path.

I still don't see why this is a problem you can still resize it and get all the text to flow.

I apologize for my earlier confusing language. You are correct. My problem concerns getting text to "overwrap" on a circular path.

Humor me please.:- ) Can I get the text not to stop when it butts up with the beginning of the circle and actually "overrun" the space as shown in the inside circle of my pdf example? In earlier versions of Illustrator I was able to do this, but with CS it appears to create a "mandatory" selection box for linking which I do not want to do.

    TIA

Well I'm a guy who has a great sense of humor especially about humoring other people, And I was going to make something up and describe how to do this and when you responded saying you couldn't get it to work I would plead ignorance and tell you that it worked fine here, now that would have at least left you with some hope at solving your dilemma but at last I cannot tell a lie I cut down the cherry tree!

Or to make a short story short, no!

Thanks for your lack of humor.:- ) I guess I'll reinstall Illustrator 10 for the times I want to "overwrap" my type and hope it doesn't break until a new version of CS will allow for this. I really find it a handy "feature." Anyone listening from Adobe???
