I want a maximized window because my targeted audience is 800x600 or 1024x??? at the most!

    Thanx!

    Eric:

Is your target audience on the internet? Then how can you know whether they
have their browser viewport maximized? I am on a 1280x1024 resolution
screen but rarely have my browser set at more than 715 pixels width. Your
adjustment of that preferred setting will annoy me considerably.

It's like you are forcing me to change my settings to view your website,
when it should be the other way around, no? Shouldn't your website adapt
    itself to my screen?

I understand what you're saying, Eric. If you have some control over
that target audience, like the page is on an intranet, then it's your
choice. However, as I said, many people on the Internet, myself
included, quickly leave sites that mess with *their* browser.

Like Murray, I have a 1280x1024 display, but NEVER EVER maximize my
browser. I always have several apps running and none of them gets my
    entire screen.

Please understand that I'm not trying to shoot you down. I just want
you to understand that a good many people may not work the same way
you do. Sometimes we forget that the site is for the user, not the
other way around. Without the user, there's no point in having a site.
