The Basics - Macromedia Freehand

I just got hired for a job using Freehand 9 on Windows. I have been an Illustrator user for 12 years. When I double-click on an object I get transformation handles around it and can't get out of that mode. How do I? Also, if I wanted to resize a box to a specific size, where do I do that? I found it in the Properties/Object box on my Studio MX 2004 version for Mac at home, but not in 9 for Windows... Thank you!...

In your preference settings under the general tab there is a checkbox to
remove the double clicking enables transform handles. I leave it off and
have assigned alt+a as a shortcut to enable these. There is a bunch of nice
stuff in the preferences that you should examine.

to resize objects numerically go to window-inspector-object.

In the Preferences>General there is an option for "double
clicking enables transforms handles". Uncheck this option to turn
off this annoying feature. (you can press Tab key to deselect
    transform handles and object)

Windows should have sane Object properies as Mac. The dimension
boxes will only show if you have a rectangle, ellipse or group
selected. If you have a path selected, you can make it a group,
size it to what you want, then ungroup it so you can apply color
    and other attributes easier.

If you have doubled clicked and get transform handles, double click again and
they disappear. Or uncheck in prefs.

And Happy Camper, now you have the option getting out of the menu "hell" that
Illustrator provides. Customize keyboard shortcuts and learn to use all the
toolbars in Freehand. The speed of your work will double.
Drag them to top or bottom and they will integrate into bottom/top bar. This
way they don't stay floating around and waste workspace.
