There is not enough memory?????
I need your help. We just bought a Dell Precision 360 with 3.0Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 2 SATA 150 GB harddrives.
I also have the Adobe Creative Suite Premium Edition.
When I am in Adobe Acrobat 6.0.1 and go to File->Create PDF->From Scanner, my computer and scanner (HP ScanJet 4600) connected via USB 2.0 goes through its normal motions, and shows me a preview scan. When I select what I want to scan, and hit Acquire, it scans the document then pops up a box with the following message "There is not enough memory to complete this scanning function."
Please help me as I am clueless.
In advance,
Thanks, Scott

Can you scan into other programs?
What resolution are you scanning at?

Re: There is not enough memory?????
"Out of memory" problems are almost without exception never actually related to a lack of memory.
With 1 GB of RAM and figuring likely 1.5GB of swap file, an 8.5x11 color page would have to be almost 3,000 dpi to actually run out of memory.

Re: There is not enough memory?????
I am scanning at 200-300 dpi.
I can scan into READIRIS Pro 8 but cannot get the HP Scanjet software to come up.
When I try to run it, it gives me a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library issue.
Let me reinstall the Scanner software. It may be the reason.
Please respond if you have further thoughts.

Re: There is not enough memory?????
Ok.
Reinstalled scanner software, and still getting the same errors.
This is ridiculous.
Adobe used to make good stuff, now it seems bug ridden.

Re: There is not enough memory?????
Scott,
Have you tried HP's site for a more up-to-date piece of scanning software? I remember reading a post from someone else who had an HP "all-in-one" piece of kit and getting the most recent driver from the web solved his problems.

Re: There is not enough memory?????
Arthur,
Great suggestion. Tried that and it did not work.
I can scan into the HP software, and the IRIS software, but I cannot acquire a new scan into an Adobe PDF file.
I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0.1 and no such luck.
