    Hi,
Check language setting (WinXP) in "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Advanced > ... language version of non-unicode programs...". Setting to "English (US) (Than must restart) seems to solve the problem. It really works!!!

I am traditionally a MAC person but opted to switch over at my new job. Would you PC guru's please tell me what a "high powered" IBM is.
    My current machine (new)
    Pentium 4 2.80 GHZ
    512 MB RAM
    Unsure about HD memory
    decent/average video card ($300 range)
    Windows XP
(I was told I have the nicest machine in the building)

I have had significant problems using illus CS, crashes or image blurrs or blurrs and repeats when I scroll down. I assume this is a memory issue. Can I allocate more memory to Illustrator? Do I need more RAM? This is irreguardless as to weather or not I'm running other programs. I do have CAD tools as an extra plug in. And I currently do not have a font manager.

    Corrine,
    >>I assume this is a memory issue<<
It sounds far more like a video driver problem.

Right-Click on the desktop and choose "Properties". Under the "Settings" Tab
select "Advanced" and then the "Troubleshooting" Tab.

As a diagnostic, turn Hardware acceleration down to zero. If that helps, you
definitely have a video driver problem. Check the vid.card ,manufacturer's
    web site for updated drivers.
    >>Can I allocate more memory to Illustrator? <<
No, Windows dynamically allocates RAM as required.

Another 512 meg in your machine wouldn't hurt, and if using Photoshop
another 1.5 gigs RAM would be even better.

    Rick,

Try to save after reducing the illustration. There is an limitation to save and print with size over 962 mm (you can convert the measure). Somewhere in this forum there was solution for printing the large format illustrations. (As I remember, reducing the illustration and printing with scaling up).
