There was an error opening this document. The file cannot be found.
My workflow and the problem:
1. Using Acrobat 6.0 Pro on Windows I create PDFs.
2. I upload the PDFs to my SQL Server database.
3. I try to open them and get the error message: "There was an error opening
this document. The file cannot be found."
4. I go to someone else's computer, the document opens just fine (using
Adobe Reader). So the PDF was stored in the database just fine. The problem
is with only my version of Acrobat.
I assume that somehow Acrobat assumes the file is still the local version
and looks for the link to the local file and cannot find it. First I
thought, I will shorten the "Last Opened" list. So I reduced this to only
one document, but that does not help.

Re: There was an error opening this document. The file cannot be found.
Am encountering the same problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Versions am using:
Acrobat Reader: 5.1.0.9
Internet Explorer: 6.0
Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Pdfs are stored in a database.
When I try to open a pdf, am getting an error "There was an error opening this document. The file cannot be found".
But the same pdf doc opens fine in another computer.
Pls help.

I had a user experiencing the same thing and we tried updating to the latest reader version but it didnt work . Tried downgrading back to ver. 9.0 .. same error. What did work for me was when I deleted my Cache, Temp Internet Files, and %temp% files. Not sure which one did it.. but its working now.
