The tiling feature on the Print dialog box is for printing a very large page into sections on smaller paper sizes.

What you're calling tiling, I'd call step and repeat. Have you used the Edit > Step and Repeat command?

I tried the step and repeat which would work but it is still a hassel as far as typing in where you want it to repeat to and it only pastes in one direction it can't tile it across the page. The linking is still a problem as well because it has to link to each and every duplicate object. Data merge seems to do it nicely but I would like to have the duplication process without having the merging of other information. Plus the linking problem is still present and data merge doesn't exist as far as I know in CS.
