Timeout setting not working - Coldfusion Server Administration

I have quite a short Time Requests after setting (5 seconds) as I'm getting 100% lock ups and I need to cut the load on my server. The problem is this is being ignored. I've double checked there's no "cfsetting requesttimeout" tags where there shouldn't be, and yet when I turn on Log slow pages taking longer than 2 seconds, I see loads and loads of pages taking far longer than the alloted 5 seconds. One took 382 seconds! Can anyone shed any light on this? I need to kill off any slow running pages....

Have you checked your logs? Remember, there are certain tags that do not obey
the timeout value as they rely on a response from an external source.

For example, cfstoredproc ignores the timeout value, and if the database never
responds it'll never release the thread.

Looks like this is the reason - I have a logging page that uses a stored proc
    and gets hit quite frequently.

How did you know storedproc ignores the timeout? I found nothing in the help.

Do you know if it's possible to force a timeout on a stored proc if it does
    stall?

Many thanks. I'm sure this is the problem. I have re-written the code to use cfquery with a timeout param and EXEC
