“Too Few Operands” message when viewing PDF documents with Commenting
I have certain PDF documents that are sent to my clients for checking and commenting before issuing final artwork. The PDF documents are created by Illustrator via Postscript file to Distiller and sent via email attachment to usually Windows computers. My clients then apply commenting such as Text Edits and highlights using Acrobat 5 on a Windows computer and then sent back to me.
The PDF documents I create work as they should, printing and viewing properly before they depart and as far as my clients can tell work well from their end. When I receive the commented PDF’s in return, I get a “Too few operands” message and can only view the commentings, Text Edits and highlights, but not the original content I sent. I have tried opening the PDF document with Acrobat Pro 6, 5, Reader 6 and 5 with the same results. I experienced this with every third commented PDF I receive and am not sure if this is a cross platform issue or an format/Save issue. My clients are not too computer minded so asking them questions is like asking a cat question.
I have not found a setting that hides the original PDF document or can not see a actual commenting layer that it could be placed on. Has any one else come across this message “Too few operands” before or know what it means.
Any suggestions, directions or definition would be much helpful.

Re: “Too Few Operands” message when viewing PDF documents with Commenting
Thanks Jon for responding,
I will request my clients to save my attached PDF document to their hard drive before they start applying commenting and them attached the saved file onto a fresh email instead of replying to my original email to see if this eliminates corruptions. Thanks again for the explanation to “Too few operants”, much appreciated.
