    Default Tool bar

    Hello !

    Publisher ???

    Avez-vous une réponse ? Merci.

    Kim,

You will have to select a printer and make it the default before starting AI10 for the print setup to hold. Also it will not hold for any file opened from the Finder. If you open the file from within AI it will solve some of your problems.

I did that. Created a new document and still had to go through the page setup routine to reset the bounding box on the page.

Does anyone know what to do when the tool bar keeps disappearing? I throw away preferences and restart Illustrator and the tool bar shows up fine. Then after about 3 or 4 restarts the tool bar no longer shows up and I have to open it from the list of windows. So I throw away preferences again and it shows up for about 3 more restarts. Any suggestions? It's Illustrator 10 on a G4 with OSX.

You're not hitting the Tab key accidently to hide the tool bar?

    Christine,

Do you by any chance have your Illustrator executable located somewhere other than how it originally got installed, in particular in a different folder than your Plug-ins folder? Or do you maybe have either the application or the Preferences in some directory that you don't have write permission to?

The reason that discarding your Preferences helps when tools and plug-in menu commands go away is that it caches information about where on disk your Plug-ins are located. Moving either your Plug-ins folder or your application itself to a different place messes up these links, and it can't find the plug-ins.

Also, OS X tends to get its permissions messed up a lot for some reason that I don't understand (I'm no Unix guru), which makes it hard for Illustrator and other applications to work, especially if the Plug-ins folder gets set to deny you permission to run code from that directory. So it is good to repair your disk permissions periodically, especially if apps start acting weird, and also immediately after updating system software. For instructions, go to Mac Help and search on "Repair disk permissions".

    Christine-

I've been experiencing this problem as well. Not that I have an answer for you, but it's not necessarily localized to you.

In response to Teri's post, I haven't moved anything from where it was installed. I also hadn't repaired permissions since the last security update/Safari 1.2/ Java update, though.

    I'm running Ill 10.0.0 in OS 10.3.2 on a G4 933 iBook w/ 640MB RAM.

If I can find something that reliably fixes this I'll reply w/ the info.

I repaired disk permissions, reloaded Illustrator and threw away Preferences in that order and it seems to have taken care of the problem. Thanks for your help!
