    Default ToolTips in Safari

    The Title= attribute in HTML is presented by most browsers as a tooltip.
    Mozilla under OSX does fine with this, but Safari seems to ignore it. Am I
    missing a preference setting or something?

    It displays it in the browser's status bar. Look down.

    And if you still don't see it, turn on the status bar by using View menu
    --> status bar.

    I did have to turn on the status bar, but that only shows the linked url (if
    there is one). It doesn't show the 'title=' attribute of my tables. Is
    Safari one of those browsers that doesn't display the 'title=' attribute for
    some tags (like the <tr> tag)?

    The browser isn't required to do anything with the title attribute, so
    you can't count on it showing anywhere.
