Touch up text hangs on save

When I use the touch up text tool to add or change text, I can't save. I'm using Acrobat Standard 6.0.5 on a Mac G5 dual processor running Tiger (latest upgrades). The ball spins forever on save and when I go to force quit it says Acrobat not responding in the window. Happens frequently although not always. Even if I just change one letter this happens. Any ideas?

Does this always occur even with system fonts such as Arial/Helvetica?

Also - is there any difference if you attempt to edit embedded or
referenced fonts?

I don't know. Most of my work is on a catalog that was done in InDesign and the font is New Century Schoolbook. I don't know if it is an embedded font or referenced but I don't think there is anything I can do to change it. It is not new documents that I can do whatever I want with the fonts. I did not do the original catalog and it is a very large document. Only thing I can do is export whole page as pdf and replace page. But if it's one minor change, as in one number or letter, it would be faster to just touch up the pdf document. Also, sometimes documents are sent to me, already as pdf file, from other companies and I am altering a few items in it for my company's use. Frequently happens then, too, although not always.

That font should be an Adobe Font, and should work (embed) fine. I remember that font as one of the pre packaged fonts that came with Aobe TypeManager for OS9. Its a Type I Postscript font. In ATM it came prepackaged with both the screen font and the printer Font.

In OSX it would only use I believe the Printer font. (which ever one would be in the suitcase).

To save many, many permutations of the problem - can you send me a PDF
which hangs?

I have Acrobat 7 over here - it will be interesting to see the results ...
