Trace tool question
I hope some generous person will help a newbie. I am trying to make a line art outline of an image using the freehand 10 autotrace tool. I make a selection with the trace tool and the desired object is outlined by a dashed line, so far so good, but then what do I do? I would like to place the outline on a new layer, or in a new document, but Edit/Copy is grayed out. When I try pasting, it pastes the entire image, not just the outline. If I hit the Delete key, it leaves only the desired outline blinking and fading in and out. Anything I do then causes this ephemeral outline to disappear. What am I missing?

Re: Trace tool question
gringoflojo;
You can place the tracing image on it's own layer and even lock that
layer before tracing if you wish, however even if both are on the same
layer--after tracing the outline should be selected but not the image, so
you should be able to group the existing selection (after which it can
easily be moved/separated from the image). -Tom Unger

Re: Trace tool question
Thank you very much!! Sometimes one needs someone else to point out the obvious.
