Transaction logs... - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Hi, Is there a way of stopping SQL server 2K form recording transactions in it's log when processing records in stored procedures.. I have a number of sprocs that need to process data into tables that are used for reporting. We can't use temporary tables because the software that is picking up this data (SAS...stats package) won't accept data from sprocs. As a result our transaction logs are getting decidedly large. I've tried setting the truncate options, but that works for the whole database. I need this to happen for this process only. Cheers..Paul...

    Hi Paul

You could try to incert the records into a table variable, and then do the
incert to the real table as one large incert - then the log will be smaller
    I think

    From Tom

Do batch incert from the table variable

    Paul,

Also, you could create another database "mydbReports" that uses the Simple
Recovery model. Build your reports into tables in that database and print
from there. Simple recovery means that the logs will be truncated whenever
possible and do not need to be backed up.
