Re: Transform palette doesn't show true size of objects
Hy Tomaz. I'm with the same problem. MILLIMETERS are default here in Brazil. And is impossible to work with this bug. I put 50mm in W transform palette and when I click return it appears 50,0001mm. And each time you move the object it changes. This is a serious BUG and when I tried to put this problem in the list I receive some replies making joke with my problem.
This is a BUG. I'm an advanced user of Illustrator and we could do nothing about this, only wait the Adobe developers fix it. I'm very upset with it because I have the Full Creative Suite and can't use the main software for me (I'm a graphic designer).
I've reported the bug to Adobe.
If you have some good news about it PLEASE send me a e-mail ( gokiko@terra.com.br)
Good luck,
Bye.

Did you read post 1 of this thread. This has been there all along and you just were unaware of it.

You neglected to mention the language used to express your issue. Nobody was making light of the issue. But, there are fellow users INCLUDING myself (I mostly refer to myself) that will not stand for vulgarity in posts.

Re: Transform palette doesn't show true size of objects
I use AI10 with only 3 decimals, but every now and again I have seen the xxx.001 inaccuracy. It worried me a bit to begin with, but only until I realized that it was just a points to millimetres conversion matter with no effect on the artwork; however I believe it must be rather annoying if it happens all the time.
Therefore I would suggest CS be offering the option of AI10 conversion, like the colour setting emulation options referring to earlier Adobe versions, not to sacrifice the millimetrers to put the inchers at ease; and after all you do know you have written 7/16 whether the transform palette says 0,438 or 0,4375.
I work in points for fonts and stroke weight, pixels for web images, and millimetres for most of the rest, which is most of the time.
I would vote for points as the basic measure at any poll: if I were to encounter unexpected decimals to the point values while creating a letter for a font my nerves would soon be tattered rags, but I can sleep well even if a square seems to be 100,001 x 99,999 mm.
And it may be worth remembering: AI is for Artwork and Imagination, not CAD where I am sure the programmes use millimetres.

Re: Transform palette doesn't show true size of objects
Hi folks,
this is absolutely a big issue in my studio, we like to work with precise values and it is infuriating to constantly notice the decimal differences appear, time after time. I have read the threads and understood the principles of the points to millimetre system and also the enhanced display that has been requested. However, when I draw a 200mm x 55mm rectangle, I expect those dimensions to remain accurate. I often work with each individual subpoint of a shape, and we are very annoyed by the whole thing. Precise measurements and xy coordinates help when designing cutter guides, which we invariably design in illustrator.
It is a problem and we would like to see a fix or an update that removes this inconsistency.

Re: Transform palette doesn't show true size of objects
Paavels, thank you for the link; I just downloaded the patch.
However it seems to be for CS only; is that true? I use AI10.
