Default Transparency - does it work?

A customer sent me Freehand MX file. She placed a photo and applied a
transparency of 40%. When I printed the document, the photo did not print at
all (other elements were fine). If I removed the transparency, it did print.

She is wanting to know why. Is this a bug or a feature that should not be used
when printing to high-end devices (color laser and digital press)?

    Thanks.

Default Re: Transparency - does it work?

just as with other design programs, you need to trap, flatten or somethig of
the sort to your file and layers before printing. when i work i save a working
file then a flattened file for printing. i trap all layers and colors so there
is no shifting and flatten everything so that way what i see on the screen is
what i will see on paper.
