Re: transparent background?
You need to have a codebit included in your HTML page. WHen you output
from Flash, select "transparent windowless" in the "Window" mode while
publishing with formats "Flash" and "HTML".
The code will resemble something like this in the HTML "Object".
<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
WIDTH="550" HEIGHT="400" id="your SWF" ALIGN="">
<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="your SWF.swf"> <PARAM NAME=quality
VALUE=high> <PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#FFFFFF> <EMBED src="your SWF.swf"
quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH="550" HEIGHT="400" NAME="your SWF"
ALIGN=""
TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></EMBED>
</OBJECT>
Hope that helps you!

Re:Transparent background?
It's under file>publish settings (I think the flash tab) and just set the background to transparent windowless.

Transparent Background?
What is the best way to save a file and retain the documents transparent background? I know that it can be retained as an .ai file, but what if it is a logo, for example, that is going to a client and then onto print.

Re: Transparent Background?
Joanna,
To save as a transparent, you can either save as an EPS but sometimes that
doesn't produce well on other programs, or save as a PDF with transparency
selected in the save options box.
The best way I have found to get round this problem is to rasterize the
logos/pictures. Though this will bitmap them (ie, un-vectorise meaning you
can't scale in the same way) you can rasterize at high dpi levels which will
mean on-screen and on print you won't notice any difference (rasterizing has
an option to preserve transparency and so-long as it is at 300 dpi at least,
you won't have any print problems. but i would recommend to at least 600 dpi
for safety.)
I hope this has helped.

Re: Transparent Background?
An EPS file will retain transparency as long as you aren't using special transparency masks or modes (from the Transparency Palette). If you simply have a vector logo and want it to have a blank background when printing from any page layout program, an EPS will work fine.
