Transparent Background with solid type?

Default Transparent Background with solid type?

I know I can have a 50% transparent shape with a text box over it that has 100% black type by just stacking them… but is there a way I can combine these two things into a single object style?

Doesn't seem like something InDesign can do. Any ideas?

    Thanks
