Trouble getting PPP to time out
The PPP Options (System Preferences->Network->PPP->PPP Options) has an
option to automatically disconnect a dial up connection after x minutes.
The problem: Indiscriminate incoming pings etc. effectively disable this
function. I just participated in an Apple Discussion board where an
individual was having multiple pings *per minute*.

Replies to such incoming traffic is easily accomplished with a firewall,
but the system still sees the incoming traffic and keeps the connection
open.
Is there a way to set some system parameter to look at outgoing traffic
only and time out after x minutes of no outgoing traffic?
Alternatively, is there any freeware/shareware to do this?
There used to be a shareware application Download Watcher pre OS X that
would monitor download activity and serve the same purpose. Is there an
OS X equivalent?
Thanks in advance.
