    Default trouble using java within coldfusion

    Hi, im fairly new to coldfusion but have had a resonable amount of exposure to
    java.

    Trying to run through the simple process of being able to call a java class
    from coldfusion using
    <cfset myObject = createObject( "java", "TestJava" ) >

    I am running coldfusion mx7, and my java installs are jdk1.5.0_05, jre1.5.0_05
    My arguments with the coldfusion administrator under JVM and java are:

    coldfusion classpath
    C:\CFusionMX7\wwwroot\test
    JVM arguments
    -server -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:MaxPermSize=128m
    -Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home}/../
    -Dcoldfusion.libPath={application.home}/../lib

    my environment varibles for java are
    Path

    C:\CFusionMX7\verity\k2\_nti40\bin;%SystemRoot%\sy stem32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoo
    t%\System32\Wbem;
    C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel;C:\Program Files\Microsoft
    SQL Server\80\Tools\BINN;
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_05\bin;.

    classpath
    not specified as yet

    I keep getting the error
    500 TestJava (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)
    TestJava (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)

    any advice would be very much appreciated, on either whats causing these
    errors and what I need to fix up
    or declare.

    the unsupported version stuff generally means you compiled your java classes
    in 1.5 but coldfusion can only run 1.4.x. i'm not sure if you can run
    coldfusion under 1.5 by pointing the jvm to your 1.5 jvm. worth a try, i
    suppose, but don't be surprised if it's not possible.

    in which case, you'll have to recompile your java under 1.4. tough to do if
    you're using newer stuff, though!
