Trying to figure out a nested style sheet or other solution for formatting.
Hi Guys
Im doing a directory of resources for seniors and each entry is as follows:
1) NAME OF SERVICE 250 554-4587
2) textual explanation of service etc
etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc
3) Address, Town etc.
The number 1 text is bold, all caps
The number 2 text is normal body text
The number 3 text is bold no caps
Im trying to find out if there is a way to format the entire imported word chapter at once so each section of the entry is automatically formatted to the appropriate style. The word files are set up so each entry is a paragraph and then hard returns between entries. I was playing with the nested style option but doesnt seem to do this, is there any way to do this with either the nested styles option or some scripting etc.
Thanks Guys
Samuel

Re: Trying to figure out a nested style sheet or other solution for formatting.
Nested Styles are perfect for this. First define the character styles for each variation. Don't include Font, Colour, or Size -- just those features you want (so the cStyle for 1 will be Bold and All Caps, but everything else blank, and named "Bold+Caps").
Next define your pStyle with Nested Styles. First line will be "Bold+Caps" through first line break. Next line will be "Body Copy" through 1 line break(s). Next line isn't needed, just format the pStyle with Bold text.

Re: Trying to figure out a nested style sheet or other solution for formatting.
Im not sure if im not fully comprehending you or if it just doesnt work but when i set up the styles like that it makes every line bold and all caps. When i pick the nested style sheet choice in pstyle it only gives me forced line break choice so not sure if thats the problem. Any ideas or maybe can i attachthe stylesheets im using for you to look at?
Thanks
Samuel

Re: Trying to figure out a nested style sheet or other solution for formatting.
To give you more help, we need to know the names of the paragraph styles and character styles you're using and the text specs for each paragraph style and how you've set up the nested styles in each of the paragaph styles.
