Many tutorials for Photoshop apply to Fireworks, but sometimes you need to
work out different tools that do the same thing. I'd start by spending time
with the help files... and this forum is fantastic for posting specific
questions about technique and tips.

I've never read a Fireworks book throughout, and never tried "pay for"
videos. While I don't doubt that for beginners they may inspire, I do doubt
they go beyond basics - things you could probably easily work out from the
help files and a bit of experimenting.

I haven't used Photoshop for a long time, but my understanding is that its
vector graphic capabilities are somewhat lacking - it being more geared
towards bitmap editing. This is where I feel that Fireworks is a much
better tool. Once you've mastered a few basic tools (the pen tool in
particular), the editibility of vector graphics is hard to ignore.

Default Tutorial

I am new to DreamWeaver so I decided to do the tutorial.
I edited Comment-view.jsp to include the query results,
rs-commnets.first-name, etc.
Then per documentation, I should be able to view Live Data, however, when I
click on View -> Live Data
or click directly on the icon, it shows me my we site
http://...comments-view.jsp
but it doesn't show me query results. It shows the text as is like
rs-comment.first-name, etc.

I looked at 'Site' settings for local machine and remote server, it seems to
be ok. However, somewhere
I read that I need to configure the application server for the Site, I don't
see that option when I bring
up edit site. I have only - Local Info, Remote Info, Testing Server, Cloaking,
Design Notes, Site Map Layout,
File View Columns & Contribute options available.

I have also configured 'Testing Server' in my case its the same as 'Remote
Server'.
Can somone help me resolve this issue?

I would like to see this tutorial working before I start developing our other
applications.

Thanks for your help!

Default Tutorial

sigh...

I'm trying to work my way through the tutorial. At 'site definition`, the
program suggests

http://localhost:8500/cfide/gettingstarted/tutorial/

as the URL to browse the root of the site.

I 'test' the URL

Does it work? no it does not

Is the Help any help?

No

Any suggestions?

(I hate it when a tutorial doesn't work like this)

I'm sorry, if I sound a bit dim but fail to get what? The URL? I've tried
the variations suggested and get the same "Dreamweaver can't use the prefix you
entered" whatever I use.

At this rate I don't think I'll bother with the rest of the 30 days eval...:(
