You will get a ton of recommendations for books and sites, here is one
of the sites that doesn't often get mentioned but I find helpful,

This site is run by one of the regulars here, Doug Nelson. He's got lots of good tips and tutorials, and has built a great Forum community, full of people willing and able to answer questions like the ones you probably have, Reb.
Also, to have fun while you're getting up to speed with your burgeoning skills, he runs regular retouching challenges. Don't feel shy, just jump in, perhaps introduce yourself on his forum, and have a go with the challenges. Visit regularly and you'll learn a lot. If you're diligent, patient, inquisitive and willing to experiment, your ride up over the steep part of the learning curve will progress quickly.

Do a Google or Yahoo search for "Photoshop
Tutorials".
You'll get tons of them!

I think the OP is aware of search engines. I'm pretty sure the reason for asking would be to get recommendations as to which are the good ones!

Re: Tutorials for a newby
There are links most of the tutorials I've seen recommended on this forum listed there.
Reb can decide.
I'm sure Reb is aware of search engines,Nona. So far he's only had two other leads.
What's your suggestion(s).
